Meet the Babes || Alisha
Meet Alisha Ochoa, founder and creative director behind the Boss Babes Brunch Club.
Born and raised in San Diego, CA, Alisha has always been a creative soul. After dabbling in different careers, she realized that what she really loves is creating community. Her background in Women's Studies from CSU San Marcos encourages her to empower women and girls to pursue their goals and accomplish their dreams. Finding inspiration from the female entrepreneurs and boss ladies around her, Alisha thought up the Boss Babes Brunch Club. A place for women to ask questions, learn from each other, and help each other along the way as the navigate their careers and lives.
Other interests include drinking a lot of craft coffee, drawing, yoga, kittens, and watching as many sunsets as possible.

Check out the survey below to see what's on her mind...
1. What fuels you—literally and figuratively!
Literally... Flat whites. Really good ones. I drink more coffee and espresso than I probably should, but with such a busy schedule, and love for the craft coffee culture I've decided that it's not an issue and is something that I've accepted about myself. Figuratively... the community around me. I love watching other people thrive and kick ass at what they're good at. It's really amazing to see your friends not only follow their dreams, but excel in their fields.
2. If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to take risks. Sometimes change is good, and getting out of your comfort zone will push you, be scary, and really hard, but you’ll learn so much that it’s worth it.
3. What’s one quote or mantra that you live by?
Don’t be a dick. I know this sounds ridiculous, but it’s easy to remember and so applicable to tons of situations. Don’t be a dick to others, don’t be a dick to yourself. Be a good human, it's not that hard.
4. What’s your spirit animal? (pictures highly encouraged)
A kitten. You get to snuggle, people love you, it’s expected that you’re a little bit sassy, and people want to give you back massages all day. Plus, they’re just so freaking cute I can hardly stand it.
5. What’s one skill that you’d love to master?
I would really love to be able to speak Spanish fluently. It’s such a great skill to learn, especially living in San Diego.
6. What’s your current guilty pleasure?
I’ve been on a huge ice cream and gelato kick lately. My current favorite is chocolate with cherries and cayenne from a cute little gelato spot in Carlsbad called Gia Gelato, or vanilla with chocolate chunks and peanut butter…. God, I wish I had some right now.
7. Hey Mrs. DJ put a record on… What are you listening to when you want to
a. Get pumped up:
It depends on the type of energy I need. Lately I’ve been alternating between Odesza/Hippy Sabotage stations on Pandora and Taylor Swift (no shame). I’ve also been into a lot of funk… if you put it on you can’t help but smile and have a dance party in your car.
b. Wind down:
I’m always a fan of some good old Bon Iver, Alt-J, or Of Monsters and Men. They’re my general mellow music stations on Pandora or Spotify. I also really love Ray LaMontagne and Ella Fitzgerald + Louis Armstrong.
c. Get down:
Such an awkward question, but I can’t wait to hear everyone else’s answers. Probably some hip hop? Or maybe some Glass Animals. I don’t ever specifically turn music on to “get down”…
8. What’s one book every Boss Babe should read?
If you know me at all, Harry Potter is an obvious answer (I’m a huge HP nerd), but as far as Boss Babes, or anyone trying to find their path, I would suggest the Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I’ve read it numerous times and I’ve learned something new with each read.
9. What’s one random thing that is always in your bag?
My sketchbook. I do a lot of pen and ink illustration, so I like to have it on hand. It pairs with the pineapple printed pen bag that contains about 15 Pigma Micron pens (.005 mm-- the smaller the better). Also, I always have lavender essential oil with me. I wear it everyday.
10. Tell us something you’re really freaking
PICK ONE (or many...)
a. Excited about: THIS! The Boss Babes Brunch Club! I’m so excited to finally be building a community of Boss Babes! I can’t wait to see where this adventure takes us, and I’m really looking forward to all of the women that I have yet to meet and connect with.
b. Proud of: The past two years I’ve taken a lot of risks with entrepreneurship. Not everything has gone to plan, but it has all worked out in some capacity. I’ve found that if I want something that doesn’t exist, it’s by job to create it, so that’s what I’ve done. I used to hate the idea of being an entrepreneur, and I still have a hard time spelling the damn word. I fought this identity for a long time, but I’ve been so inspired by the community around me and their support, that I’m very excited to be following THIS dream.
c. Anxious about: I’m not sure there’s one thing that makes me really anxious. Failure is a fear everyone has, but that’s not unique or exciting. Then there’s the obvious doubt of “can I do it”, “will boss babes want to go to these events”, etc. I know that whatever is meant to be, will be. As long as I put my heart and hard work into it, I won’t regret this risk.
